The code F42 appears on the display of the washing machine if its self-diagnosis system has detected an excessively high engine speed. Even without the code on the panel, you can notice problems: in this case, the machine makes noise and bounces. The problem is classified as critical - it can cause a short circuit and even a fire in the wiring. Therefore, the first thing you need to disconnect the washing machine from the network so that the error does not lead to more serious consequences.
What is the reason for F42?
This code signals a breakdown of a number of components. To eliminate it, you must replace:
- A sensor that detects the speed of revolutions of an electric motor (tachometer). Repairing or replacing it will completely fix the problem;
- The control system can also junk, causing a variety of error codes, including this one;
- If the RPM sensor and control board are in order, then the engine really accelerates too much, and it is necessary to repair it;
- Another potential source of problems is the wiring that leads to the motor.
Whatever the error was caused, its elimination at home is almost impossible - you need a specialist consultation. But you can still try something yourself. So, we recommend rebooting the machine by unplugging it from the mains for a quarter of an hour. If unpleasant symptoms do not recur after re-starting, you can continue to use the washing machine.
