Hair straightener, better known in everyday life under the name "iron", is designed to create hairstyles. Such devices, as a rule, work from a network.
Like any device, the iron may break sooner or later or start working incorrectly. In this case, it is useful to know how to straighten a hair straightener, for example, Bosch brand, yourself and repair it yourself.

The device and the principle of operation of the device
Hair straightener of any brand belongs to the category of heating devices. The ironing plates are in the form of a clamp, due to which the curls straighten. The operation of the device is based on a high temperature from 100 to 220 degrees, under the influence of which the hair straightens. The plates press the hair due to the spring installed inside.
Regardless of the specific model, the overall equipment diagram is as follows:
- the main body, in the form of tongs, equipped with a cord for connecting to a source of electrical energy;
- heaters installed inside - heating elements;
- a regulator that allows the user to select the optimal temperature regime.
Accordingly, a breakdown is possible in one of these links. Bosch brand offers a fairly large assortment of such equipment, the main differences between the models are the design, characteristics and the presence of additional functions that increase the usability of the device. Depending on this list of possible places of breakdowns, additional moments are added where damage occurs and the device malfunctions.
How to disassemble Bosch hair straightener
We will find out how to independently disassemble the hair straightener manufactured by the Bosch brand so as not to damage the device, successfully assemble it back and use it in the future.
First, for disassembly, you will need a conventional screwdriver of the appropriate type and diameter and a tool that allows you to ring the parts of the device electrically.
The first stage of the analysis is the separation of the two halves of the iron:
- First, decorative plugs located on the sides of the device are removed.
- Carefully, so as not to damage the threads, the tightening screw is loosened.
Special attention is paid to removing and remembering the correct position of the spring mounted on the axis connecting the two parts of the rectifier. In order to install it correctly during assembly, it is enough to photograph the initial position.
After the halves are disconnected, access to the screws is opened, due to which the covers are closed that cover the shadows, as well as the thermostat. It is necessary to remove them and carefully inspect all the insides for damage, in order to obtain accurate results, it is advisable to produce the so-called part ringing.
Possible breakdowns
The main reasons for the failure of the device are:
- Faulty power cord. In this case, there is no power on the thermostat board. If such a malfunction is detected, it is necessary to check the location of the cord and board soldering. In the event of a break, the defective part is removed and re-soldered. If the connector itself is damaged, it is possible to exclude it from the circuit and connect the cord directly to the board.
- If only one ten works, then the defective element is disassembled and carefully inspected. The malfunction is eliminated by ensuring contact between the ten and the wire connected to it.In some cases, it may be necessary to replace the heating element itself.
- If current flows to the board, but the equipment does not heat up, problems such as burnout of one of the links in the circuit, poor-quality factory soldering of elements are possible. In the absence of visible damage, all parts should be phoned in sequence, starting with a fuse. More often, diodes and a quenching resistor fail. If a variable resistor is present in the circuit, a thorough inspection is required. It is also possible failure of the capacitor, as a rule, while it changes shape - bloating appears in the upper part.
In general, it is possible to make an independent repair of a hair straightener if you have basic knowledge of electromechanics, appropriate equipment and mandatory compliance with electrical safety rules - the device must be disconnected from electricity.
