How to replace a light bulb in a hood

The article describes the causes of burnout of bulbs in the hood, as well as the algorithm for replacing them.

Why is the light in the hood not lit?

There are several reasons why a light bulb may not light:

  • She has ended the service life.
  • A short circuit has occurred.
  • The network is too congested.
  • Dirt got on her.
  • Damaged cartridge.
  • Blown wiring.
  • The switch has broken.
  • Contacts are stuck.

End of life

You just need to replace the light bulb.

Short circuit

A short circuit could occur. Inspect the wires visually. If no external damage is found, test the power lines with a multimeter to find a short circuit in the hidden wiring.

If a short circuit occurs, locate the damaged area and repair.

Power overload

Perhaps you have incorrectly divided the network load between other household items, or a faulty equipment is connected to the network. There are several solutions to this problem:

  • Increase the rating of the machine if the cable section allows.
  • Install several additional outlets.
  • If you have an outdated machine installed, replace it.
  • If you use tees, exchange them for extension cords.

Perhaps a turbine (fan) is installed in the hood. Because of this voltage becomes insufficient and the light does not work.

Dirt or moisture

If dirt or moisture gets on the backlight, you need to unscrew it, clean it, and wait until it dries. Then return to the place. If the light does not work, the reason is different.

Cartridge

If the lamp holder burns out, it is necessary to check the tab that transmits voltage to the base. Often, it burns down. But there may also be other problems with the cartridge:

  • It is strongly tightened, therefore it does not come into contact with the lamp.
  • Garbage got inside.
  • The contacts are damaged.

In the first case, bend the cartridge to return to the correct position. In the second, we just clean it. In the third, we repair the joints.

If the cartridge is completely burnt out, replace the part. To do this, you need:

  1. Separate the conductors (as shown in the photo), and remove the lamp.
  2. Remove all glass shades.
  3. Unscrew the cartridge and disconnect from the wires.
  4. Remove the base.
  5. Replace cartridge. To do this, connect the phase to the center pin in the base and zero to the second.

Wiring

Perhaps the wiring burned out. You need to find a place where this happened. For this:

  1. Find a burnt wire. First of all, check the one that is inside the lamp. This wire is the thinnest, because it is with a probability of 90% that it burned out. Replace the burnt wire.
  2. The wire can be intact, but when it is closed, it comes off. Reconnect into place.

Broken switch

There are two reasons:

  • The circuit breaker has blown.
  • Contacts are dirty.

If you have a poor knowledge of technology, it may be easier to install a new switch. If you understand, try to clean the contacts of the switch.

How to replace a light bulb

The replacement process may differ from the type of construction, as well as from the light source. For example, in the hood of the Shindoo model:

  • Open the hood. If you can’t do it with your hands, pry it with a knife or a screwdriver.
  • Just take out the lamp.

Note. If you install halogen, you can not take it by hand. Sweat left on the light bulb will cause it to quickly burn out. Use a dry rag or cloth.

  • Replace the cover.

For the brand Ariston, you must:

  1. Remove the lamp.To do this, click on the clips on the back of the lamp.
  2. Remove the lamp cover.
  3. Unscrew the old bulb and install a new one.
  4. To return a cover.
  5. Return the lamp to its place.

If you use fluorescent lamps, the replacement will occur as follows:

  1. Turn off the lamp.
  2. Remove the grill or filter to allow access to the bulb.
  3. Remove the luminescent by holding hands and turning it around the axis 90 degrees. The direction is not important. Pull the fluorescent towards the light.
  4. Install a new one by turning 90 degrees around the axis. The direction is not important.

How to change the LED bulb in the hood?

The principle of replacing the LED is slightly different:

  1. First of all, the corkscrew is removed, which is installed according to the diameter of the case, as shown in the photo.
  2. Pull on this ring to remove the LED. It is necessary to hold the base.
  3. Install a new one.
  4. Put the ring back in place.
