With the onset of the off-season, when the heating season has not yet begun, the question arises of how to warm up in your own apartment. The best option in this case is air conditioning. This device is much more effective than other heat sources. This was made possible thanks to powerful fans that distribute heated air faster than similar heat resources.
Why doesn't the air conditioner warm?
But what if the heating function in the air conditioner is not available for any reason?
Consider several factors that may affect its operation:
- Very coldy. An electrical appliance may simply not be suitable for heating rooms under similar weather conditions. This is a common reason that the air conditioner does not heat properly. The power of some devices is not designed for such a strong temperature difference, so the device is not able to heat the air in the room by more than 3 degrees. But provided that the street is from 0 to +5 ° C, the device heats the air with the highest productivity.
- Heat is not supplied when there is air flow from the indoor unit. The flow of air into the room has a temperature similar to outdoor. There is clearly a problem with the compressor. There may be a breakdown in the four-way valve, which is the responsible element for changing the operating mode of the air conditioner. If there is damage, it cannot provide switching of the device operation modes from summer to winter. In this case, replacement or repair of the compressor will be required.
- The defrosting mode is broken or absent. Under such circumstances, the appliance still operates in normal air cooling mode. Air supply units are functioning. And in heating mode does not work.
Other causes and setup methods
Some models of air conditioners have in their configuration a spiral that generates heat, which is installed on the indoor unit. A fan carries heated air around the room. When the atmosphere is not being heated well, it is worth checking the device for problems with the power supply to the spiral or with the fan of the indoor unit.
Some problems of this nature can be resolved by the consumer on their own. The problem may lie in the simple freezing of condensate in the internal tubes of the appliance, which entails their clogging and the appearance of obstruction.
If the street is already freezing, then temporarily turning off the device will not help. The freezing inside the tube does not melt due to freezing temperatures outside. It remains to wait for warming, or you can try to start a heating electric wire running along these pipes. This will help if there is no problem with the external unit.
Possible causes of condensation:
- Unprofessional installation work that violates the integrity and operation of the air conditioner.
- The presence of a manufacturing defect in the device.
- The presence of microcracks through which fluid enters the device. Here, the possibility of damage to components mechanically or due to improper operating conditions is not excluded.
Under such circumstances, it is not possible to warm up the circuit.But if you try to switch the modes from the heating function to cooling, and after a while in the reverse order, perhaps the problem will be fixed. It may be necessary to make several such alternate switches so that the plug melts and slides out of the tube, freeing the passage.
Due to the formation of cracks and other damage with the appearance of microscopic gaps, a pressure drop in the freon circuit may occur. This becomes possible due to the loss of a small amount of refrigerant. Under such circumstances, the air conditioner will not cool and warm well.
The problem with refueling freon eliminate the service department that deals with maintenance. Actions are performed through the valve pipe located in the external unit outside the building. Specialists use a collector for nitriding, evacuation and refueling.
But you can determine this need yourself. To do this, you need to find and examine the scale of the unit, where the actual indicators of the presence of freon are indicated. By comparing them with those recommended according to the passport of the device, they identify the need for refueling.
Masters use special thermometers to measure freon vapor at the entrance to the compressor. And the readings of the collector will indicate digital data on the state of pressure. A temperature difference of more than 8 ° C between the two numbers indicates a need for refueling.
Inadequate cooling: causes
Why air conditioning does not cool normally is the most common question for all users of split systems. There are a number of reasons that can interfere with the operation of the device. Which ones are presented below.
Freon leak
To understand the consequence of why the air conditioner began to cool poorly, you need to have basic knowledge about freon. This is a gaseous substance or in a liquid state, which is charged with air conditioners. These devices are heat engines. And freon is their labor. It boils, starting the entire process of functioning of the device, aimed at cooling the air flow, condenses and boils again.
Split systems are installed in apartments, which contain approximately 700 g of freon. Its working pressure varies from brand and can be up to 10 atmospheres. When the appliance is on, the indicator will be higher. This is precisely what causes the leakage of the substance, even with a slight violation of the tightness of the cooling circuit.
Most often, evaporation occurs:
- in places of connection of tubes to the internal or external unit of the device;
- on cranes, at the joints of tubes;
- with poor-quality soldering of individual circuit elements.
First-hand, you can often see the leak at the oily streaks. The greater the volume of loss of freon, the more significantly the functioning of the device will be disrupted.
You can see the effects of its evaporation. To do this, you must first turn off the air conditioner. Next, by lifting the front panel and pulling out the air filter, gently touch the heat exchanger. It will not be cool, as during normal operation of the device. In this case, the part will acquire room temperature. But in the upper part we find a zone that is covered with hoarfrost. This clearly indicates the process of leakage of the cooler.
Troubleshooting and refueling should be dealt with immediately.
Drum dust
It is known that simple contamination of equipment can lead to disruption of its operation. The air filter may become clogged in the air conditioner. Passing the air from the outside to the inside, it cleans it of impurities of fine dirt, poplar fluff and other medium-sized elements in the atmosphere. Dust particles settle on the filter screen, clogging its entire space. This prevents further operation of the appliance in normal mode. Cleaning must be done every 20-30 days. Filters are located in the indoor unit under the front panel.
Ignoring the simple rules of systematic maintenance, we can bring the situation to further contamination of the plates of the heat exchanger and other elements of the appliance. Only specialists can fix problems of such complexity. Failure to seek help is fraught with breakdown of fans.
If you noticed that the air pressure when turning on the air conditioner is weak, urgently call the masters. At the same time, they will check all possible sources of air intake and eliminate blockages, which in the future can lead to serious damage to the device.
Excess freon
There are cases when the service department, when filling the appliance with freon, pours it in excess. This can happen due to the inexperience of the master.
Excess refrigerant causes the device to not function properly. Often this is the reason that the room can not fully cool.
Disturbed operation of individual elements of the system
The appliance will not function normally if there are problems with various components.
Such malfunctions may occur due to improper maintenance of the device:
- one of the fans is broken;
- four-way valve defective;
- compressor interturn circuit;
- holes in the winding, breaks inside;
- thermal relay is out of order.
Repair or replacement can be carried out by the master. Only specialists are able to identify the cause and eliminate it. Do not disassemble and try to repair complex and unknown parts of the device yourself. Ignorance can lead to deformation of other parts of the device.
Sensor malfunctioning
Failure to operate the temperature and pressure sensors may result in the device not performing the cooling function. Manufacturers provide for automatic shutdown of the power supply system in such cases. In order to resume operation of the appliance, defective components must be replaced.
Hose blockages
If debris enters special hoses, which are components of the device, the air conditioner blows poorly. Cleaning should be done by the master using a special vacuum pump.
Only timely qualified service can ensure the normal operation of all systems and operating modes of the air conditioner. Prevention is the best way to prevent serious damage to the device. It is advisable to resort to the help of a master once a year, who will clean the entire split system.
